RaceRunning Australia launches!
RaceRunning Australia officially launches on the heels of a fantastic Australian come 'n' try tour in November 2018.
RaceRunning is an innovative sport for people with a disability who have impaired balance and who are not able to functionally run. Using a custom built RaceRunner, athletes are given the freedom to move with the RaceRunner supporting their balance.
RaceRunning Australia was started in 2018 as a way to bring together and help develop RaceRunning in Australia. RaceRunning Australia collaborates and connects with the key stakeholders in the athletics, therapy and RaceRunning sectors at a state, national and international level.
In November 2018, RaceRunner developer Connie Hansen travelled to Australia from Denmark to participate in a six (6) city Australian tour of RaceRunning come 'n' try events.
The come 'n' try events were a massive success around the country. Over the six (6) events, over 80 people participated in the workshop's or got in a RaceRunner themselves.
Disability Sports Australia would like to thank the following people and organisations for their leadership of the come 'n' try events:
Sydney, Canberra & Newcastle: Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) and Dejay Medical
Melbourne: Dejay Medical and Maz Strong
Adelaide: Dejay Medical, Athletics SA and Novita
Brisbane: Dejay Medical and the University of Queensland
In addition, DSA would also like to thank Connie Hansen for her time and work presenting RaceRunning to the wider Australian public!
