2024 Annual General Meeting Results

Disability Sports Australia (DSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members and the reappointment of two returning members to its Board of Directors, following the annual general meeting on Wednesday, 27th November. 

Julie Turpie and Mark Streeting join the DSA board for a three-year term, bringing with them a wealth of expertise in disability sport, fundraising, sponsorship, finance, and risk management. 

Kerri Griffiths and Nathalie Mann have both been reappointed for a one-year term. 

Mark Streeting expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Board, stating: "With a strong background in disability sport and a passion for enabling Australians with disabilities to experience the health and social benefits of sport, I am excited to join the Board of Disability Sports Australia." 

Julie Turpie shared her excitement, saying: "I am honoured and delighted to join the Board of Disability Sports Australia and to support the organisation’s mission of enabling more Australians with disabilities to be more active, more often." 

Dr Renae Domaschenz (Co-chair) welcomed the expertise and experiences of the new Directors. 

"We warmly welcome our new board directors. Their expertise and fresh perspectives will be invaluable as we embark on the next few years.  We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our departing directors Leeanne Grantham and Erin Hoare. Their dedication and leadership have been instrumental in our success, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours." 

DSA now has nine Board Directors under the leadership of Kerri Griffiths and Dr Renae Domaschenz as Co-Chairs.

New Board Director Profiles: 

 

Julie Turpie 

Julie is a highly experienced senior executive working across the not-for-profit and government sectors with a proven track record in setting and leading strategies that achieve business growth, building organisational profile and brand value, cultivating strategic partnerships and leading cultural change.  

Julie has more than 30 years’ experience in major event acquisition and delivery, tourism and destination marketing, business development, marketing and communications, sponsorship, fundraising and philanthropy.   

Julie is General Manager, Events at Destination NSW, the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency.  Previous roles include Director, Commercial and Marketing Services at Museums of History NSW and Director, Major Events & City Marketing at Brisbane Economic Development Agency.  

Julie has a passion for sport and for-purpose organisations combined with a professional commitment to improving education, community and social inclusion outcomes.  

Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree from The University of Edinburgh - Moray House School of Education and Sport. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  

 

Mark Streeting 

Mark is a Senior Partner with global strategy consulting firm, L.E.K. Consulting, and an experienced Non-Executive Director.   

Mark leads the L.E.K. Travel and Transport practice in APAC and the GCC and has been a member of the Global Board since 2022, where he also sits on the Board risk and audit committees. His fields of special competence include strategy and policy development, financial and economic appraisal, and major capital projects advisory. In his role as co-lead of the L.E.K. Community Engagement Committee, he has completed major pro bono consulting engagements for partners including KTF, WIRES and Domestic Violence NSW.  

His current NED roles include the Public Transport Association of Australia New Zealand, where he serves as Vice-Chair, and the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation, where he is Treasurer. He has previously completed a structure and governance review for Special Olympics Australia and subsequently served as Chair of Special Olympics Australia.  

Mark holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Graduate Diploma in Public Economic Policy from the Australian National University and a Master of Business Administration from the Queensland University of Technology. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
