Disability Sports Australia Invites Expressions of Interest for Non-Executive Director Positions

Disability Sports Australia (DSA), one of Australia’s nine leading National Sporting Organisations for people with disabilities (NSODs), is welcoming expressions of interest from individuals interested in joining its Board of Directors

DSA is committed to enhancing the lives of Australians living with disabilities through the power of sport and active recreation. Our vision is for active lives for all Australians with disabilities. Our mission focuses on enabling more Australians with disabilities to be more active more often. 

It is an exciting point in our organisation’s journey, as we are implementing our new strategic plan. We are seeking dedicated individuals who share our vision and are ready to contribute their expertise to support our strategic priorities. 

The strategic pillars of DSA include: 

  • Advocacy 

  • Financial sustainability 

  • Program delivery 

  • Partnerships and stakeholder engagement, and 

  • People, culture, and systems.  

The Nominations and Remuneration Committee has assessed the Board's current skills composition and future strategic needs. 

Candidates must have skills, knowledge, and experience in at least two or more of the requirements below when applying. 

The organisation aims to appoint individuals with expertise in: 

  • Financial management 

  • Audit and risk management 

  • Organisation leadership 

  • Government and public sector relations 

  • Human resources management 

  • Commercialisation of business assets 

  • Fundraising, and  

  • Legal matters. 

In addition, the Board seeks to appoint a new Chair for the organisation's Audit and Risk Committee.

Director positions are voluntary, with Board meetings currently held online on a regular monthly basis. DSA also reimburses travel and accommodation expenses incurred during organisational activities.

  • Up to two-page covering letter outlining their relevant experience and motivation to apply for this role.
